Wedding Venue, South Farm, Hertfordshire
Spotlight on Wedding Venues 1: South Farm, Hertfordshire.
Welcome to my first spotlight on wedding venues. Week one I am looking at the very unique wedding venue, South Farm, Hertfordshire. To view further images of this and other venues please visit my main website. www.parkwinphotography.co.uk
These articles will be about wedding venues I have had the privilege to photograph and will focus on the features and areas that make wonderful backgrounds. I am not making recommendations for the venue’s service or value for money as I don’t have that detail of knowledge, apart from the smiling faces on the day, but I hope I can show you some beautiful places to investigate further.
Over the next few weeks I will be looking at many different locations with different styles, including grand country houses, marquees and tipis, small boutique venues, modern style and distinctive places with their own unique character.
The majority of places will be located in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas but we may go further afield to the Dorset Coast and southern Ireland.
I’m going to start off with Farms and Barns and one of my favourites.
South Farm near Royston in Hertfordshire describes itself as ‘Distinctly Different’ and it most definitely is. Set in 30 acres of a family run farm, this venue oozes charm. You and your guests have exclusive use of the venue which has some very unique features, perfect for photographs. From the Gypsy caravans, to the herb garden, the Tuk Tuk from Thailand, a beautiful garden with bridge over an ornamental pond, a gorgeous farm house, open farmland and of course the farm yard complete with pigs, chickens and peacocks. You are really spoilt for choice here, In fact when I meet with my couples before their wedding day I ask them to choose their absolute favourite places at this venue as we could be taking bride and groom portraits all day! Although I can’t resist taking photos of all the details.
This November 2014 wedding shows South Farm on a very wet and windy day, still looking beautiful.
The driveway is always a popular choice for photos.
There are some great doors!!!
Details.
There are lots of wonderful quirky details, such as the caravans and old engine.
The gardens are very lovely and you have a choice of three. The area by the pond and the Herb Garden,
plus the farmhouse garden complete with summerhouse for outside wedding ceremonies, and very romantic bridge over the pond.
The whole venue is dotted with artistic and unusual features including the fantastic Tuk Tuk.
The animals are always a talking point and you may be lucky to see the peacocks in their full glory.
And finally the open fields beyond. South Farm has the most amazing sunsets on a clear day.
Even if the weather isn’t quite what you’d hoped for and the cold and rain takes over, which let’s face it can happen during any month of the year in the UK, South Farm doesn’t disappoint. The interior of the farmhouse with fireplace in the hall and the lounge make lovely locations for photographs. Everything covered! Group photos can also be taken here.
The Tudor Barn is beautiful and looks stunning when set up for your wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast.
The Dairy can be used for smaller ceremonies and reception drinks.
It is great in the evening with fantastic views.
The Bridal suite is also lovely, great for the morning preparation photos.
