When I got married I had simple card place names, paper table plan and some flowers on the table, (arranged by the venue). Sugared almonds were the main choice as a favour to give your guests. Of course these were still the days of church or registry office weddings only, no ceremonies could take place at glorious country estates, hotels or outside! This may sound like I am old, but it wasn’t that long ago!
Today the choices you can make on your wedding day are endless. Once you have selected your perfect venue, dress, flowers, entertainment, colour scheme, photographer (www.parkwinphotography.co.uk. of course!) and everything else, if you choose to have one, there is the theme for the wedding breakfast tables, card and present table.
Many of my couples choose to add a very personal touch to their wedding decor.
Some of my favourites over the past few months have been:-
Table Themes
Football teams, tube stations, London street names, significant places in the Bride & Groom’s lives, where they first met, where the groom proposed and so on, holiday destinations, Christmas songs, where the guests come from on each table, book titles, golf venues, wine and champagne names, famous film couples and biscuits.
Kelly and Dave chose numbers, but in the form of the Twelve Days of Christmas for their Christmas wedding.
Martin and Sarah decided on football stadiums.
Dinosaurs ruled the day for Natalie and Gary with a dinosaur cake, menus, even a reading from a children’s dinosaur story during the ceremony and of course table theme.
Christmas songs were the perfect finishing touch for Hayley and Darren’s December wedding.
London road names associated with love and marriage, the perfect choice for Laurie and Rob as Rob was studying the knoweldge before becoming a London cab driver.
Biscuits ranging from, Penguins to Yo Yos, Bourbons to HobNobs for Laura and Alex.
Table Decorations.
Simple country setting with wild flowers and lavender.
Origami and fortune cookies.
Candelabra always look lovely.
Orange trees brought the sunshine to this March wedding.

Or beautiful floating flowers and candles in bowls. Great for me as I can see everyone

Table Plans
From vintage bunting to fruit and veg crates, tube stations to silver trees.
Menus can look beautiful too.
Favours.
Laura and Alex chose biscuits as their table names, so the relevant biscuit seemed the obvious choice for the favours. Guests could eat them with their tea or coffee too! Brilliant idea, as I see so many favours cleared away by the venue staff at the end of the evening.
The children loved these personalised Gingerbread men at Ali and Jeremy’s wedding.
…….and sweets! Mandy and Martin chose an appropriate brand, especially as they live in America now. They also added a donation to Cancer Research.
Alcohol, always a popular choice!
Lavender bags or scent bottles.
A Christmas tree decoration for your guests to take home with them?
Messages from your guests.
Guests books are no longer a simple choice either.
Luggage labels signed by guests with personal messages have been a popular choice, along with:-
Wishing Trees
and Finger Print trees.
Or a magnum of Champagne
But a beautifully crafted Guest Book still looks stunning.
Or how about a photo signing board or signing book filled with photographs from your pre-wedding shoot with me?
The card and present table.
The card table has also had a makeover.
Sarah & Jack selected beautifully framed family wedding photographs to display with their ‘tree’ candles and fairy lights. The table was a major talking point. Guests left their cards and presents in an old suitcase and wrote messages on a wishing tree..
Lynsey and Paul’s card and guest book table had a vintage port box for cards, a beautiful guest book, a magnum of champagne for guests to sign (see above) and a large glass that was slowly filled with champagne and wine corks as the day went on.
