Wedding Colour Trends
I was privileged to photograph some wonderful weddings last year with an array of colours from neutral creams to vibrant orange.
The colour around us affects how we feel and how we look and I started to think about how brides decide upon their colour for one of the most important days of their life.
Does it start with your favourite colour, a colour that means something to you, or a colour that you know your bridesmaids will look good in?
Is your favourite flower for your wedding bouquet the first consideration or the decor at the venue? It may be the time of year, autumnal shades or Christmas glitter.
Here are just a few of the colours my couples chose in recent months.
Wedding Day Colour
Blues
Clare & John and Karen & Andrew both chose cream and sapphire blue for their wedding day.
Ella and Tom decided on a darker blue for their special day at Tewin Bury Farm.
Delphiniums were the starting point for these grand flower displays at Eynsham Hall.
Natalie looking radiant with her bridesmaids in blue.
Reds
Emma & Tim wanted their colours to blend with the décor at their venue, Down Hall. The red and gold looked amazing. The tables were named after different types of tea with a hint of Alice in Wonderland.
Cream, silver and grey
Tom & Gary wanted the wedding breakfast room at Ponsbourne Park to look stylish and elegant. The result was simply stunning in cream and grey.
Purples and Pinks
Purple is always a popular colour, especially of the chocolate variety! This vibrant yet elegant colour made Saima and Paul’s wedding cake the perfect centrepiece at Fanhams Hall
Kealey ‘s beautiful bouquet at Shendish Manor made by Amie Bone Flowers.
Pinks and creams are forever popular and looked very pretty in these bridesmaid’s bouquets at Natalie and Barry’s wedding at Three Lakes, West Mill Farm, Ware.
Orange
This amazing shade of orange brought a richness and warmth to Rob and Lauren’s September wedding at the Priory Barn Little Wymondley.
Even the boys liked the flowers!
Anything goes!
Claire & Sean wanted their day to be full of colour. It was perfect and reflected their joyful, fun loving personalities. The sweet trees by Sweet Trees by browns were great.
The Greens
From Bottle to Sage, greens were a popular choice all year.
Sage green and pink. Always a good combination.
Katharine and Stephen’s October wedding at Offley Place was made even more beautiful by the stunning colour scheme.
Red & Blue
And finally red and blue. The perfect combination for Gemma and Richard’s Christmas Wedding at Latimer Place that also happened to be Richard’s regimental colours.
Do I have a favourite colour scheme to photograph? Yes I do….. But I’m not going to tell you what it is!!!! Every couple is different and their colour is perfect for them.
